We dig down to stable soil, install the right depth of compacted gravel, and only then lay asphalt at the proper thickness. We also grade for drainage, because standing water under a driveway is the fastest way to ruin it in a Maine winter.

- Install 6 to 12 inches of compacted gravel base
- Grade the surface to shed water away from buildings and toward drainage
- Pave with a binder course followed by a surface course
- Roll and compact for proper density
